I like big books and I cannot lie
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in York.
- Saturday, 17th of February 2018
2 runners ran (at least) 1km to continue to help Ms. M. sort out her books for sale.
We were cheered to see that since last weekend, Ms M has been busy deciding which books were for sale and which were for keeps, so we quickly got to moving the ‘keep’ pile back upstairs.
Once we checked through all the boxes for any sneaky books which had escaped us last week, Nicki and Ellie started to move books around so it would be easier for Ms. M. to sort them. This involved covering all surfaces with large (precarious) stacks and making ‘bookshelves’, by stacking crates up the wall on their sides and filling them with books, spines out.
We then did our best to tidy the room up and make it more accessible. We soon found bags of bags (carrier bags, dumpy sacks, bags for life, bin bags, storage bags, hiking rucksacks, gym bags...) which we also sorted through and condensed so there was more space for ‘bookshelves’.
Finally, we put a chair upstairs for Ms. M so she can sit and sort before collecting some items and taking them to the local charity shop. Ellie and Nicki made a sneaky stop for lunch goodies before bidding farewell and running home.
