If you go down to the woods today!
6 GoodGymers made their way to help the Braywick Nature Centre in Windsor and Maidenhead.
- Wednesday, 18th of August 2021
- Led by Windsor and Maidenhead runner
A wheelie good time and a barrow of laughs was had by 6 runners who headed over to the New Thrift Wood. The task was to carry on distributing bark chip along the paths to prevent visitors branching out onto the woodland floor and damaging wildflowers and wildlife habitat.
We also welcomed Carina to her first task with Goodgym by saying Barrowwww, is it trees your looking for?
Numerous wheelbarrows of bark chip was shifted along the path into areas becoming muddy and boggy and causing visitors to widen the path walking around the puddles.
Chipping away at the task, everyone shared the roles digging, raking and transporting the chips where Juli and Matt had buggy running practice with the wheelbarrow woodland maintenance and clocked over 3.5km each during the task.
Finally as the sun set we learnt about the plans to increase nature and wildlife across the site with big plans and lots more chances to visit again soon!
New members, new friends and a great mission completed for the ancient woodland. Not mulch to moan about at all!
