Improvising with Intervals
22 GoodGymers made their way 3km to help their local community in Tower Hamlets.

Tower Hamlets GoodGym runners found themselves with a tougher than expected session on Monday night after this week's task was postponed at the last minute. With the police pulling rank, and our task supervisor from Hollybush Estate in an emergency meeting Tom sweated for 30 minutes trying to arrange an alternative task, eventually he paid the group back with a tough session focusing on running posture, drills, intervals and core work!
After introducing more new GoodGym members (welcome all!) we jogged just under 2km to Haggerston Park. On finding the park still being tidied up after festivities at the weekend we found a suitable route around JCBs, Portloos and crowd barriers to allow us all to hit a tough session designed to keep those valuable pins sharp before Hackney Half Marathon this weekend.
Sporting a new Canary Island tan and inappropriately small shorts Tom led the group through a running technique and drills focused warm up - testing the group through a variety of silly walks, but leaving everyone taller, lighter, and more balanced runners....(honestly).
After doing a range of fast, hard intervals we got stuck into a core session followed by stretching and a jog back to the Arch Gallery.
Everyone got stuck in brilliantly despite the last minute change of plan - though all were looking forward to focusing energies towards Hollybush Estate's Nature Reserve next week!
Good luck to all those running and volunteering this weekend at Hackney Half!
