Creating Waves at Bug Cycle Garden
On a sunny early summer June evening we met up at our usual meeting point at Splashpoint for a quick bask in the sun and a GG catch up together with a post Worthing 10 k debrief . Massive kudos to all the GG runners who competed in that heat also to Gill who volunteered and had the best job ever of giving out those glorious medals .
Special mention to Barbara on her first ever race and who has now installed a hook to display her shiny medal ( and future medals )and also to Anne and Nigel who achieved a stonking PB together with Paul and John finishing fashionably seperately but together forever !
A seatifying tripple decker
This evening we headed back to the Bug Cycle Garden to support our friends at Creative Waves Nadia and 'Messy Nessie' with their stunning alternative garden that encourages local enjoyment of a community space.
We set off on a lovely scenic warm up run along the seafront stopping briefly to admire our GG seafront flower bed which is continuing to flourish before running around the pier where we stopped for some scenic and fun giant deck chair photos before arriving at the task in Beach House Gardens.
With a warm welcome from Nadia and Nessie we headed off to all 4 points in the garden to work our 30 minute magic makeover . After a few short minutes we were joined by Paul who was running fashionably late but, as always committed to the cause.
We had a wheely big watering can
Paul took over watering duties with a huge retro watering can on wheels which he filled from the tap and then decanted around the garden .Personally I have never seen such a device before but Nadia told me it has been there for years !
I have very pacific tastes
Ros and Barbara together with Nessie took on the task of rubbing down the red paint on the embedded resident speed boat which had chipped away over the long winter months before re applying a shiny new coat of GG red and leaving a few specific areas for Nessie to work her magic on with a splash of green.
Life succs without plants
It was so nice having Gill back after a few weeks of juggling ultras with energy levels. Gill wasted no time in piling straight back in to some extensive lady gardening before we all joined her in the newly pruned area for some lively group photos followed by some fond farewells from all concerned.
A plank a day keeps the belly away
We split the group into 2 with the leading group heading off for a a 12 minute out and 10 minute back run along the seafront together with a shorter option but all culminating in a session at the outdoor gym on the seafront and some extended stretching on the lush grass with blue sky views.
Nauti Buoy
We finished off with a relaxed run back to base with some keenly spotted eye candy along the way which was 'noticed' by a certain person but which others were completely oblivious to :)
Following this we stopped to do some tongue in cheek PC analysis of the artists impression of the new Bayside development which was a cheery way to finish the evening.
Looking forward to seeing you next week and happy holidays to Tamsin , Paul and John.
Love your running
Julia :)
