11 goodgymers met outside Maidenhead community centre on a warm and sultry Wednesday evening. After a brief chat and a not so brief safety briefing from Leader Amy ( only joking ! its very important ) we found a large piece of flat grass in Kidwells Park for the mandatory goodgym warm up session. A game of valleys and mountains began, some of us were clueless at the start but soon saw the wood for the trees and much merriment pursued; you had to be there !!
Now to the serious stuff, armed with graffiti clean up kits from Town Manager Robyn and litter pickers we divided and conquered. Thanks to Cllr Jack Douglas for grabbing some extra PPE from his stash to supplement what was in the kits and for his local graffiti and litter knowledge.
It wasn’t long before we found ourselves in the subway that leads into the top end of the high street. We took a deep breath, down we went, its a dirty job but somebody’s gotta do it.
With the help of a very strong and fragrant cleaner, a lot of elbow grease and a bit of good old fashioned scrub a dub dub the graffiti that lined the subway soon melted away......like distant memories.
There was much laughter and chuckling, we we all very happy - were we feeling the effects of our cleaning products??? No of course not, we were just high on life! We always have a good laugh at GoodGym.
We were thanked multiple times by passing locals, this was most graffit..fying.
We mustn’t forget our team of litter pickers who collected 5 large bags of rubbish, Maidenhead is definitely a cleaner place tonight.
Our time was up and we met back to our meeting point and said our good byes. Just remember that Amy is exhibiting her art over the week end in the Cookham and Maidenhead’s Art Trail because I think she forgot to mention it!!
Don't forget to sign up for next week's mega group run setting up a children's allotment at Clewer Green First School. Sign up here to join the fun!
