It's gettin' hot in here (so hot), so let's sort out these clothes

Hot in, so hot in here! So hot in, hot, oh!
Don't worry, this morning's community mission at The Baby Bank in Maidenhead was less Nelly the rap star and more Nelly the elephant. However much we might have wanted to 'uh, uh, uh, let it hang all out' in the near 30 degree heat, there was very little danger of Sara and I taking off all our clothes . My GoodGym t-shirt is actually now surgically attached, and Sara, who we were welcoming back for her second GoodGym good deed (whoop whoop!) was far too busy sorting through piles of donated baby clothes. Thankfully it was also a bit cooler inside the Baby bank's cavernous storage facility than it was outside.
With a firm belief that every child deserves the best possible start in life, the Baby Bank helps families in need by sourcing everything from nappies to school uniform and birthday cakes. A lot of their stock is donated by other families, and sorting through the donations to check for cleanliness and wear and tear is a time-consuming job. Today was GoodGym's fourth community mission to help with this task.
The huge bag that Sara took from the donations mountain contained lots of adorable tiny outfits, complete with an amazing array of sparkly hair accessories, while my lucky dip turned up bags of school uniform and clothes for older children. While we worked we had a great chat and the time passed quickly.
Our task owner this morning was Lauren, who must have clocked up at least 5km running around getting bundles ready for families to collect while we were doing our task. Lauren was super grateful for our help and would welcome GoodGym volunteers on any Tuesday or Friday morning in the future, so keep an eye on the Windsor and Maidenhead 'happenings' page for more opportunities to get involved.
After our task it was lovely to bump into fellow GoodGym member Nathalie and her children and to be initiated into the world of Bakugan toys by her son. Who knew!?
Sara headed off on foot and it was back on the bike and up (what felt like) an enormous hill for me.
