Making space for each other (and Miss Y)
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Barnet.
- Monday, 6th of April 2020
Laytoya and I met on a relatively warm day on a lovely quiet street in ‘rural’ ( it seemed that way) Finchley to help Miss Y make room for her new hospital bed and equipment. We were met by a friendly neighbour who let us into the house. We had lots of stuff to move upstairs before we could even start to move the furniture outside for the council to collect. The house was very hot and I felt guilty that Laytoya ended up climbing up and down the stairs while I had the easier job of moving it to the bottom of the stairs. ( thereby minimising proximity and maintaining safe space ) We then moved the required furniture to the front garden. Mrs Y seemed pleased enough as we learnt that she had lived almost all her life in the house. I cycled home and Laytoya started to run back to Tottenham. (Guiltily again!) Thanks Laytoya for saving the day at the last minute when another runner had to drop out.
