Making sure Mrs R didn't run out of her medication
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Hounslow.
- Friday, 19th of June 2020
Today I picked up a prescription for Mrs R who is a fellow Feltham resident. The Tesco pharmacy delivery service had let her down, and she found herself about to run out of medication. I donned my GG t-shirt and ran to the Tesco pharmacy to collect a fresh batch.
After some initial confusion where I was standing in front of the wrong building for some time (Mrs R kindly directed me to the right one after I called her!), I made my way up to her door and we had a good old chin wag after I gave her the little package. She playfully brought up a suspicion at my lack of identification but I explained that my t-shirt acted as a uniform and that she was perfectly safe. She said she hoped to be able to go out and do things for herself soon and I told her I am quite optimistic about how things are continuing to get better. Her lively and chatty manner was really nice to see.
Mrs R said she would have run out of medication by tomorrow morning if I hadn't been able to deliver it to her today. After explaining how future similar missions can be set up to help her, she expressed her gratitude to GoodGym and to myself for our help, and I left feeling decidedly cheerful.
