Ocean Alive!
3 GoodGymers made their way to help the Maidenhead's Big Read in Windsor and Maidenhead.

Maidenhead library was certainly alive this weekend when they held their Big Read event with the theme of Ocean Alive! There were talks and displays, all designed to engage the children and encourage them to read. The centre of attention was a life-sized inflatable Orca in the middle of the library. Anita, Georgeta and Sheila volunteered to help out, and once we had donned our bright orange volunteer T-shirts we went to our assigned positions. Georgeta had the chilliest spot, looking after the visitors to the very popular Story-telling bus parked on the high street. We have yet to find out who swallowed Stanley. Anita was looking after the children's story-telling sessions in the library, with the GoodGym -crafted sea creatures in the background - they looked fabulous! Sheila was in the River View Corner, looking after the sessions featuring two authors of books about the oceans which involved plenty of audience participation too. All very engaging and good fun. We all learned loads, and Anita was reluctant to leave, staying on for one last story-telling session once her shift had ended. It was lovely to be able to hand-over the reins to the familiar faces of Kanika and Diya for the afternoon session

Great report Sheila! Yes, it's still a mistery, we don't know who's swallowed Stanley!!
Sounds like a wonderful event!
