OLD PARADISE THE SEQUEL
14 GoodGymers made their way 10.0km to help their local community in Westminster.
- Wednesday, 17th of June 2015
Meanwhile in Westminster 14 battle hungry warriors headed deep into southern territory to old paradise yard to help shift compost, cut up wood, smash rubble and of course master the art of crowbar manipulation.
GoodGym night reminded me of being at the San Francisco women's Marathon a few years back. Loads of ladies and a few good men. Now my question is where were all you gentlemen last night when the ladies were putting in work?
With a few newbies coming along for the first time we gave them a true GoodGym welcome by telling them why what they were doing was so amazing.
Shortly after we headed off. A nice steady pace down to green park, intervals to Buckingham palace, steady to Big Ben followed by intervals up and down the bridge. A quick right and left and we were there.
A quick briefing from Christina and we were off. We split into 3 teams, one for making new planters for flowers, fruit and veg using the crow bar and saw for non compliant wood. One team cutting up bits of trees that has fallen by the way side and one final team transporting compost and other brown sludgy stuff to a new location.
30 mins later a huge dent had been made in something that would have taken Christina and her colleague a lot longer than it took us.
Sweaty, sticky, muddy but still smiling w headed back to base for a well earned tall glass of ice cold lemonade
