Our Success was in the Balance!
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Cardiff.
- Sunday, 1st of December 2019
On a sunny but bitterly cold Saturday this past week, two runners, Mikey & Ellen layered up and ran to the house of Mr C to help him clear his garden. Runners had been a few weeks before to start the job, but there was more to do. A year or so of undergrowth meant that Mr C could no longer see into the lane behind the garden. This has made Mr C very anxious about security. But it was a big task - would they succeed?
Undeterred, our two runners lopped and they chopped; they binned and finally they grinned to see the task done. A clear eye-line to the back lane from Mr C's rear window! During the 1.5 hours they spent on the task, they chatted with a robin, cursed the brambles and shared plans for Red January running. Mikey did a short gymnastics routine on the balance beam, and Ellen did enough squats to last a month. Frozen to the bone, they both said their goodbyes to Mr C, and trotted away having finished the task and had a decent work out as well.
