5 GoodGymers came out on Tuesday night to help the UK Bat Conservation Trust run a bat survey along the River Thames. We were joined by 12 other volunteers. We met Ken MacKenzie and Philip Briggs from the Bat Conservation Trust whom have us a quick introduction lesson and handed out the bat monitors. We divided into 2 teams and started our surveying just after sunset. After about 90 minutes we were done our survey and Ken correlated the data. We found lots of bats called Soprano pipistrelle along with 4 other species of bats. We counted a total of 349 bats that night.
