A great morning assisting patients through the vaccination system. An early 7am start to receive an induction and to have a Covid Test. I chuckled at the lady demonstrating how to self test as she winced and made noises - however when it was my turn i did much the same, boy does it make your eyes water! After 30 mins my test came back negative (phew!) and I was good to go. For the first hour i directed patients from the Church to the medical centre, it was chilly outside so in true GoodGym spirit i did step ups to keep warm. The next hour was spent inside in the waiting room, my task was to man the walkie talkie and listen out for requests for the next patient. Now this was easy at first as there were only 4 people waiting.... but then it got busy and my brain started to ache trying to remember the order in which people were to go - easily solved with a pen and paper. Then the last 2 hours I was stationed at the entrance, a visual aid for cars approaching, assisting the elderly out of their cars, advising family that were dropping them off and welcoming people in. My shift finished a bit later as I hung around for Katie and Kat to have their test and for others to have a lunchbreak. The team we were supporting were delightful. I was offered lots of hot drinks, biscuits and then at lunch we were treated to Pizza!!!! The whole vaccination system worked like a dream and I was happy to be part of it.
