Prop me up. Before you go go
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Cardiff.
- Wednesday, 4th of March 2020
Nathan and Briony headed to Penylan to meet Mr R (and his cat Dilwyn). The original plan was to sort out some weeding in the garden and make the garden secure by putting the fence up.
Given the weather (rain) Mr R suggested we come back on a nicer day to complete the task. Seeing that Mr Rs house was exposed to the lane, and knowing that in Wales you could be waiting a month for another nice day, Nathan and Briony suggested they reposition the fence as a minimum.
Mr R explained that the fallen fence was a result of Storm Dennis, and gave directions how to prop it back up again. In a short time the fence was back up and the house secured off from the lane.
The group headed indoors to dry off and Mr R mentioned how long he'd lived there. "Man and boy!" Nathan suggested. "Man and baby" Mr R corrected him. After a chat about how his mother had purchased the house many years ago, briefly interrupted by Dilwyn who came to say hello, Nathan and Briony said their goodbyes and headed home (back to work).
