Return of the Griffin Claw!
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in York.
- Wednesday, 25th of October 2017
Georgie (who was doing her first mission) and Barbara met at Mrs M's to tidy up her front garden and remove some weeds. After figuring out that we were standing outside the porch and needed to go inside the porch to knock on the front door, we met the lovely Mrs M who showed us what needed doing. She had a variety of tools but Barbara utilised her now famous Griffin Claw to good effect to remove some of the dead plants and weeds. The other part of the border was much heavier going and the innocent looking plants with orange flowers, that we were assured were weeds and needed removing, proved to have some impressive roots so a full sized garden fork was brought into play and the heavy work began in earnest. Georgie was doing a great job of weeding the pebbled area and then swapped with Barbara to take over with the fork. Almost 2 hours later (where does the time go we asked ourselves), with our shoes clogged with very wet soil and our gloves soaked through, we finished our task much to Mrs M's delight. She was very happy with what we had achieved and wouldn't let us leave empty-handed so we departed with a jar of home made jam and chutney!
