Taking pride in our city centre
3 GoodGymers made their way 3.0km to help their local community in Derby.
- Tuesday, 14th of June 2022
- Led by Rachel Carthy
Ashley, Tracey and Rachel walked 2.73km around Derby city centre to collect rubbish and help make the city a more pleasant place to visit. The group found lots of empty (and sometimes full....) drinks cans, bottles and discarded food packaging. There was a lack of face masks tonight but a super star sticker and sash from a celebratory night out - the group claimed to be both of what each item described.
A few visitors to the city thanked the group for helping to keep the streets clean and there was some relationship building with one gentleman to educate him on the benefits of GoodGym and how volunteers complement and assist the City Council with jobs like litter picking, rather than taking jobs away from people who work for the council.
The balmy weather got the group chatting about upcoming holidays anyone has along with run event marshalling that some of the volunteers are involved in including parkrun - both local and as tourists.
Thanks to everyone who joined in tonight.
