17 superb goodgymmers ran 4k to help the volunteers at Northway Gardens.
Meeting at the Phoenix, we were joined by Gabby for her first GG run. Welcome!!
We set off to Northway Gardens with Sally backmarking and Vicki walking as she returns from injury. On arrival, we met with Brian who explained our task for the evening. After the hedge had been cut recently, and really cut it seems from it's previous 10 foot height, leaving great piles of branches along the edge of the gardens. Our task would be to carry, drag, and generally transport all the branches to one consolidated pile.
The team grabbed gloves and got to work: there were some particularly large branches and a large number hidden behind various bushes and foliage, but with half an hour's solid effort the team had moved all the branches we could find and created two(!) giant piles. Great work!
With that it was time for a group photo in front of the branches: our blogger pose was not universally understood (👀 at the report title), but did have glorious results in the picture I'm sure you'll agree.
We interrupted our gentle run back with a speed session: running laps, we varied our pace running hard then using active recovery to work on speed. Brilliant work from everyone.
I'm on holiday next week so I'll hand to Paul, who we welcomed back from a couple of months away. See you all soon.
