The leaning tower of pots
5 GoodGymers made their way to help the Braywick Heath Nurseries in Windsor and Maidenhead.

5 Goodgymmers went to help out at Braywick Heath Nurseries on a very warm day. Rachel was sporting her new '100 Good Deeds' T- shirt, it was Tony's 10th community mission, and Sheila has just completed 400 good deeds, so we were all in a buoyant mood. Laura took on the task of filling modules with compost ready for some plug plants, in the peace and quiet of the potting area. Rachel, Juli, Tony and Sheila continued the task that we had started last week in the polytunnel - sorting through the pots returned by customers. We removed any that were damaged, had printing on them or were a garish colour, and set them aside for recycling. The remainder will be re-used by the nursery, so needed to be sorted by size. More difficult than you may think! Juli hit on the idea of trying to match the patterns on the inside to find similar pots. We developed our own nomenclature, with questions such as 'does anyone have any heart-shaped bottoms?' having us in stitches. We were delighted when we managed to build a tower of identical pots, sad as that sounds! Juli proved to be a good QA manager, a side of her that we haven't seen before. We managed to empty 2 more trollies of pots, but there are plenty more to go. But it will help make the business more sustainable. Tony regretted wearing his denim dungarees in the warm polytunnel. Live and learn!
