Time to Shed some weeds!
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Cardiff.
- Sunday, 1st of March 2020
Mikey and Ellen ran on a lovely sunny morning to the home of Mrs A. The task: to clean her patio decking so it is safe to walk on, and do a general tidy of the garden for the spring.
We got stuck in. But first, Mikey took on an additional task - to screw down some fibreglass walling on one of no less than 4 sheds (Not counting the greenhouse). For such a small garden, that's a lot of sheddage!
Then we dug the weeds out of cracks, swept and scraped her patio decking, weeded and moved some plant pots, and pruned some of the evergreen shrubs.
Mrs A came out to chat with us every now and then. She's no stranger herself to exercise, telling us she has gone to an exercise class for over 20 years. We even caught her dancing in the kitchen to music on the radio!
After just over an hour, we came to a natural break, so tidied up and put all the tools away. As we left, Mrs A was inviting her next 'guest' into the house - her Avon lady. We'd learned that after that she was having 2 more guests visiting (separately). What a lovely, lively older person - she's busier than we are on a Sunday!
