To hell and back
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Windsor and Maidenhead.

Perhaps not the most fun packed conversation I've had with Mrs D so far, whom I went to visit this morning, but certainly one that has had a deep impact on her, and she likes to go back to it quite often. It's the story of one of her surgical operations she's been through, to have a pacemaker fitted. She hasn't got just one, she has two!! This time something went wrong, the surgeon cut a bit that shouldn't have, as she explained it to me, and after the surgery she went into cardiac arrest and she went through resuscitation... All she remembers is that she felt she was really unwell and needed help and was trying desperately to seek someone's attention. And, the next minute, she was surrounded by lots of medical stuff and they were taking turns at thumping her really hard. So much so that she'd come around and found the strength to shout out loud 'Stop hitting me!!!!' ... to everyone's relief, that was! Afterwards one of the nurses that watched her afterwards, told Mrs D that she'd been through hell! And she had the bruises to show, all over her chest, she looked like she'd got a good hiding! All this told in such good humour... Thanks again, Mrs D for sharing your stories with me.

Gosh sounds horrible, but thank goodness for all that life saving thumping and hitting! Well done for visiting Mrs D 👏👏👏
