Tricky Trimming at Tedder Road

Jenny from City of York Council met us at Tedder Road play area with all the necessary tools as usual. Our main task was to trim back tree branches which were growing through the metal fence and other bushes on the opposite side.
Rich, Jenna, Louise and I tackled the branches that were growing through the fence with Rich sawing the thicker branches - the trick was to try and trim back the branches as close to the trees (which were the other side of the fence). We soon accumulated a big pile of various sticks, larger branches and offshoots which we battled into bags, with a few tears and rips along the way. These were piled up nearby along with all the bigger branches (and some of the more spiky cuttings) for later collection.
Meanwhile, Michal helped Jenny trim some of the bushes on the other side using a battery powered trimmer (see photo) and they soon also had an impressive pile of cuttings. Rich did a litter pick and we left the play area looking much neater and tidier as well as safer for the local children to use (but not before Rich tested out the roundabout!). Rich, Louise, Michal and I were all going to our next mission a short while later so arranged a café stop en route to refuel. Lovely!
