We just scratched the surface

Today's task at The Hut was to sand and paint four picnic tables.
There were four of us at the task, so we picked one table each and started sanding.
I find the sound of sanding paper scratching the surface more unpleasant than writing with chalk on a chalkboard - Jenna
Not to prolong Jenna's suffering unnecessarily we sanded as quickly as we could and used the opportunity to chat about swimming, carbon reduction and group runs.
After about half an hour all tables were ready for a fresh lick of dark brown wood stain. Everyone admitted that the painting part of the task was having therapeutic effects on us.
19:30 on the clock and we have finished three tables, leaving just one for Peter and his colleague to paint.
Peter has a list of other jobs needed to make the place looking good and we will be coming back to The Hut in the near future.
