Whimsy in the Secret Garden
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Lewisham.
- Saturday, 11th of August 2018
The drawer front we were expecting to deal with had been kindly fixed by Ms H’s neighbour the day before, so instead Ms H asked us to help with a few tasks in her garden, that she was struggling to do by herself.
We straightened out the poles of the whirligig, removed a plant pot from the holder it was stuck in, and made the miniature fence around her pond a bit sturdier. Ms H told us about the overgrown bush that she was hoping would be dealt with during another GoodGym mission, and was delighted when Neil and I offered to trim it back seeing as we were already there.
We met Whimsy, the very furry and previously stray cat, had a good old chat about the joys of living in the area (Neil has just moved to Catford) and were rewarded with a perfectly ripe nectarine each as a thanks. What a lovely morning!
