A typically hectic morning setting up the Stirchley Community Market with bright sunshine from the sky and our volunteers! Amy, Laura, Morwenna, Eve, Christina, Josie and Sofeen came together to put up bunting and balloons and build the outdoor stalls. Josie did some litter picking around the library community garden finding two big packs of lamb! The task was to make the venue look like a birthday had thrown up on it and GoodGym came through 💪🏼 🎉
Big thanks to everyone who came to help set up and down - there’s always plenty to do but your impact is definitely felt and appreciated!

Watered the plants and helped to carry out a deep clean and brighten up the space!
On a warm, bright evening in Digbeth, Nancy joined for her first task with Goodgym! The two of us and Karen from Friends of the Earth made for a small yet mighty team ready for some deep cleaning and a spot of gardening.
Our focus was the side entrance, with beautiful rays of sunshine beaming through the windows! We gave the gloriously green floors a good sweep, scrub (a little like we were playing curling!) and a mop. We also got into the nooks and crannies of bookshelves and skirting boards. The plants were thanking Nancy for keeping them hydrated... lots and lots of watering can refills were in motion!
Fun evening all round and the area was looking quite shiny by the time we headed off, thanks to a great team effort!

Tonight we welcomed Raf to GoodGym for the first time.
Raf and Jonny joined Josie for a great task at the JQ cemetery. The task was to use the giant green plastic hands to scoop up a load of leafs, then filling some huge sacks and putting them into compost.
The 3 of us managed to do 3 pillars in the time, as you can see from the before and after pictures. We'll be back next month to finish off :)
We had both runners and walkers at tonight's task with Jonny having ran about 7k from home and Raf getting her walking steps in.
This is a fantastic task, please do come to the next session at the JQ cemetery in a few weeks.

This evening we met with Amy who gave us lots of lovely fliers to deliver round the Stirch streetz. A massive welcome to our new member Abigail, who joined us from Bristol! We hope to have you back soon!
After a good 45 mins of leafletting we went on a 4k run on the river rea with Laura cycling alongside and Chris taking the opportunity for a walk.
All in all a great time with some much needed refreshments in the pub afterwards!

We had a brilliant evening at St Martin’s in the Bullring, a beautiful church full of activity and friendly people. Morwenna, Nathan and I had a warm welcome from Tina and Rich, who showed us the outdoor area in need of some weeding and tidying.
What a fascinating surprise! We found ourselves looking out over Digbeth level with double-decker buses, all set with lots of tools to clear brambles, sweep paving and dig through soil. It was a big team effort from us all and a regular church volunteer, Rob, also joined in!
We were glad of the sunny evening, beautiful church architecture and lively city centre buzz all around us. We all enjoyed it and were happy to leave everything looking that bit clearer than when we arrived.

Nice early start of Park Run after doing night shift.
Signed up for Park Walking volunteering role to get more walkers signed and enjoyed the run.
Got to Sutton park 10 mins before the run start. There were loads of runners/walkers already there ready to start. Straight went to run Director to introduce myself and picked up Park Walking light Blue hiving, so we are visible to all walkers.
1 lap course for Park run ( Bit hilly) but enjoyable. Had great time and fun.
Even got cake and cookies after as a treat.
