Karen, Nigel and Maurice were 3 of the 19 fabulous volunteers at junior parkrun today, undertaking lots of roles between them including course set up, volunteer coordinator, marshalling, warm up leader, giving out finish tokens, photographer, event close down, and token sorting. Such a satisfying morning, enabling 95 juniors to be active and have fun!

Three GoodGymmers rolled up to Crewe parkrun for their parkrun fix of volunteering (and a 5k run for Emily). Karen and Nigel were timekeepers, as well as volunteer coordinator for Karen, and post event close down for both. Emily got hands down her favourite role - sorting the 362 finish tokens back into order ready for next week's parkrun over a coffee and chat with friends. its a tough job but someone's got to do it!

Rachel, Maurice and Nicola spent a lovely evening in the sunshine enjoying a litter pick around town. We focused on the area from Thomas Street to Queen Street. The litter wasn’t actually too bad, however we still managed to fill three bags.
The highlight of the evening was watching Maurice having his first ever go on a zip wire! We also managed to get him on the swing..... Rachel did a great job of pushing him (not high enough mind you!!)
After we had filled our bags, we headed over to Hops Bar for a nice cold drink and a piece of the infamous Colin the caterpillar! Tonight we were celebrating Maurice‘s 70th birthday and no Goodgym celebration is complete without a Colin!!! He was yum! It was lovely to be joined by Karen W, Karen T & John for the celebrations too.
We had a lovely evening chatting, laughing and making a fuss of of Achilles, the gorgeous resident Hops cat.
Have a fabulous time celebrating your birthday this weekend Maurice! birthday Maurice!! We all love you to bits.
Have a good week everyone.
Lots of love Nicola xxx

We had a lovely evening down on the Sherborne estate weeding a local alley and preparing it for some wildflower seeds.
Hazel, Phoenix, Maurice and Nicolaset to work pulling lots of thistles and stubborn weeds from the borders ready to plant some wildflowers. It was a bit of an arduous task because as there had been no rain, the ground was really hard which made getting the weeds out tougher!
Phoenix was in her element spotting multiple caterpillars and other insects that were putting in an appearance. It was nice to meet the real life Colin the caterpillar! :)
Will be back in a couple of weeks to get the rest of the weeds up and so the wildflower seeds.
It was a rewarding task and we could really see the difference we had made.
Well done everyone. You're all amazing.
Lots of love Nicola xxx

everyone brought their own sunshine to junior parkrun to brighten up a grey rainy morning! Claire, Maurice and Karen helped put on this fabulous event for 126 juniors and their grown ups. Claire was a marshal cheering people on around the course and keeping people safe; Maurice was timekeeper recording every pair of little legs crossing the finish line, and Karen was Run Director, doing event set up, welcoming volunteers, a briefing, and processing results at the end.

a lovely morning for a bit of parkrun volunteering! Nicola and Karen did the course check and course set up before Karen did the event briefing before the runners and walkers set off for their 5k around the park. Nicola did a fabulous job of number checker / funnel manager, making the result processing a doddle for Karen. While Karen and Nicola were packing everything away ready for next week's parkrun, Emily and Maurice were doing their favourite job of sorting the tokens back into order and replacing missing tokens, all ready to go again next week. 362 people took part - what a fabulous thing to be part of!
