After arriving at the Hackney local farm, Alice, Alicia and Kareem helped with soil shifting, barrow moving, and covering dry areas with compost to help with growth. Alice shared exciting stories from a recent trip to Bolivia, and we came across a cute little newt in the pond 🦎

Another of our frequent farm visits - and a special welcome to Charlie, here for her first ever Good Deed!
It might have been the possibility of a shower which brought our numbers down to five, but this was more than sufficient to clear the rotting wood of old composters and build completely new ones, using scissors, shovels, our bare hands and our ingenuity.
We even got to say hello to some goats.

Eight awesome GoodGymmers got down to Hackney City Farm for some forking, shovelling, digging and shifting as we moved compost across the farm.
The farm is re-building one of its composting areas with some colourful new pallets so we needed to re-site the compost before the next task: building the new composter!
Huge props to Alicia for coming down to her first session and getting properly stuck in!!
Jacqui, Lucy, Alicia and Alice got started on the digging and loading; Sooz and John heading back and forth with the barrows, whilst Emre and Dan got on with re-siting the compost.
Massive team effort, and we’re now more than halfway through the re-siting and the compost is looking gooood!

Our top crew of Goodgym folk (including first timers Poppy and Lucy- welcome!) joined us at the wonderful Hackney City Farm on a bright Autumnal evening. Our objective for the session was to fill a transit van full of rotted down green waste and branches, destined to travel to another farm in Kent. A mighty job for most volunteers, but easily handled by our team, with a little bit of umph and some logistics! We even found time to fill up about 6 more bags, ready for the next excursion before the sun went down.
To celebrate, we popped over to the Seabright Arms on Hackney Road for some much appreciated refreshments.
Well done everyone!
