Tonight we had to split the group in two but we missed being part of a full group!
Helen, Amy, Alan & I did leafletting for Headingley Development Trust. We were promoting both Headingley Greengrocers & the Natural Foodstore. These are community run shops, funded by the Development Fund.
The rest of the group headed up to Rainbow Junction at All Hallows Church. We had a quick jog there, met Jules and Saul and then started working on digging up a hilly patch that they want to turn into tiered veggie plots. We were each armed with a mattock and got digging - it was a great work out. Lauren also had a go on the streamer to clear some of the longer grass - which she said gave her flash backs to earning her pocket money. Then thankfully the sunset reminded us that we should probably be heading again and we jogged back again.
We're looking forward to getting the gang back together next week, but thanks all for chipping in.

Five of us GoodGymers met up at the Headingley Greengrocer to help clear an upstairs storeroom and load cars with boxes and old Christmas trees to take to the dump. It's amazing how well Christmas trees can survive until April! Welcome to Matthew on his first GoodGym task.

On a beautiful autumn Sunday morning, 4 GoodGymers joined Headingley Development Trust to remove graffiti from the Telecoms Boxes on Alma Road.
The Graffiti Working Group is a group wishing to address the growing problem of graffiti tagging in Headingley and surrounding neighbourhoods.
Activities undertaken by the group include fund raising, awareness raising, the physical removal of tags, supporting Council graffiti removal activities, procuring professional cleaners when required, commissioning street art and developing initiatives to support legal forms of street art.
We completed 4 boxes & will put in a session in a few weeks to finish off.

Four members of GoodGym Leeds plus one honorary member made our way to Heart in Headingley to clean up the nearby walls of graffiti. It was a tough job & took some elbow grease but we made good progress. It felt good to clean up the area of our new meeting point. Several people stopped & asked about what we were doing, including someone hangin' on the passengers side of his best friends ride, tryin' holla at us....
Check out the before & after pictures.
