This week, our magnificent mob of do-gooders descended upon Max Roach Park for what can only be described as a rubbish time (in the best possible way)! 🗑️
Tom from Lambeth Council gave us our marching orders: wage war on litter with the fanciest grabbers this side of the Thames. We’re talking haute couture litter pickers, darling! 💅
Our troops split into two elite squads:
Squad 1: The Litter Legends 🦸♂️
Armed with our premium picking equipment, we swept through the park like a well-oiled cleaning machine. No crisp packet was safe. No stray cup escaped our grasp. We came, we saw, we picked it up.
Squad 2: The Bottle Top Battalion 🍾
Meanwhile, the bench crew got down and dirty (literally), performing emergency surgery on the ground to extract embedded bottle tops. Talk about getting to the root of the problem! Their determination was truly cap-tivating. 💪🏼
Shout out to our usual suspects who showed up ready to make Max Roach Park sparkle:
🌟 Andrej, Dan, Tilly, Michael, Eric, and Jo 🌟
Special mention to Jo, whose homemade flapjacks provided the perfect fuel for our litter-fighting endeavors. Nothing says “community spirit” quite like baked goods that actually stick to your ribs after picking up rubbish! 🍪🤗
Another week, another park saved from the scourge of litter. We came for the fitness, stayed for the bins, and left with that warm fuzzy feeling that only comes from making your community a cleaner place (and maybe from Jo’s flapjacks).
Until next week, keep running, keep doing good, and remember: every piece of litter picked is one step closer to a trashy-free Lambeth!
Total Trash Talk: MAXIMUM 📈
Good Deeds Done: COUNTLESS ✅
Puns Made: TOO MANY 😄
Keep calm and carry on picking! See you next week, legends! 🎉

This week our heroic band of litter-busting legends descended upon Rush Common for what can only be described as a TRASH-tastic adventure! 💪
Tom from Lambeth Council had issued the call, and boy did we answer it with bells on (and brand new fancy litter pickers in hand)! ✨
Our crack team split into two elite units:
🏆 Cutest GGer Award goes to Jo’s baby boy - proving that community spirit starts young! This little champion showed us all how to be absolutely adorable while saving the planet 👶✨
🔍 Discovery of the Week: Adam cracked the code on the mystical “bottle top pop technique” - apparently it’s all in the tap! Who knew physics could be so satisfying? Pop goes the litter! 🍾
A massive shout-out to our regular crew of community champions:
Another week, another park transformed from trashy to classy! Rush Common is now sparkling clean thanks to our incredible volunteers who know how to have a rubbish (good) time while making a real difference!
Until next week, keep running and keep doing good! 🏃♂️💚
GoodGym Lambeth: Where fitness meets civic duty, and puns are always encouraged! 😄

🏃♀️🗑️ After a last-minute plot twist worthy of a soap opera, our heroic squad pivoted from their original mission to tackle the streets with some competitive rubbish collection. Nothing says “flexible fitness” like a spontaneous game of Litter Pick Bingo!
Our magnificent crew turned street cleaning into pure bin-go gold, collecting everything from the mundane to the absolutely pants. Speaking of which, among today’s “treasure” haul were some bikini bottoms and underwear - proving that Lambeth’s streets really do have some cheeky surprises!
We’re not sure what story these garments could tell, but we’re betting it’s a brief one. 😉
Another successful mission in the (bin) bag. The streets are cleaner, the community is tidier, and we’ve all had a rubbish good time doing it!
Remember: One person’s rubbish is another person’s fitness opportunity!
Next week: Back to our regularly scheduled do-gooding (underwear optional)

Despite some misgivings about the weather at about 3pm GG Lambeth did what we do and turned things around for th Tuesday Group Run!
We had a 100% meet up at Papa's for once and we were delighted to welcome Patrick to the team for his first ever session - great to have you with us Patrick!
The group was also honoured to receive GG royalty after a long time since the last royal visit - his highness John of Shirley came down from the North (of London) and bestowed his good graces on us, likewise great to see you down John.
We (including Tilly, Katie, Michael & AA) set off for a quick loop via Stockwell and then down to Max Roach Park to meet Father Nature (James) and continue the planting and clearing work on the Lavender Maze. The main task was to clear the weeds and other invasive species that were trying to muscle in on the maze and we had a nose full of lavender the whole time which was lovely - unless you have hayfever in which case this was a running task in more than one sense!
James also shared with us the success stories of local youth benefiting from the project and how grateful Lambeth Parks have been for the support of the volunteers as well which was great to hear.
By the end of the session the maze was looking much clearer and whether it was the pollen or the shared bond within the group we set off with eyes streaming and snotty upper lips.....
A huge thanks to all for another great session and we will see you next week for the next one :0)

Lambeth crew were back at it yesterday evening, making their way out in the lightening evenings to help out in the local community while having fun and getting fit.
First up we welcomed Scott to his first Group Run with GG - great to have you with us Scott! Scott was joined by GG regulars Tilly and Fi ready for a nice steady 3km run round Brixton and Clapham and back towards base.
Our regular Litter Pick Bingo session allows for some 'competitive' action by splitting up into teams and seeing who can complete the bingo card of litter items. The session not only allows us to tidy litter and dispose of recycling on the way but also have fun seeing who can find the most bizarre item which normally decides the winning team.
The call was made to go Tilly/Fi vs Scott/Yianny (Scott full of non stop energy even running between pieces of litter!) and so the two groups set off in search of treasure (waste). The competitiveness was such that both teams considered buying a chocolate bar or take-away in order to get the packaging but thankfully no such action was required.
By ten to eight we were back to share and dispose of our haul with all items barring PPE interestingly, collected by both teams. For the weird and wonderful we found a mohair coat, dog toy, pregnant cat (don't worry we didn't dispose of it!) and a single mattress.
Big thanks to all for a fun session and we move on to next week's session - see you then :0)

A wonderful way to start 2025 was meeting our awesome Lambeth GGers and heading out for the first group session of the year.
It was a triple celebration session and so with the blessing of the group I will keep the run report mercifully brief and cut the waffle so here we go:
Quote of the evening from Daniel on his 2nd ever session "There is only upside to this GoodGym thing!"
We ended the eve with some sweet treats as well.
Much love to everyone, on with the January Challenge and I look forward to seeing you next time!
