Pane-staking work

Southwark Report written by Emma McNally

Five of us gathered on a rainy January evening at Old Spike—those brave enough to face the weather. We were delighted to welcome Charlotte, who was new to Southwark GG but already a seasoned GoodGymer. We set off on a 3k run through the rain to the Old Alleynian Rugby Club, where Ian was waiting for us.

Thoughtfully, he had found us a sheltered task: giving the clubhouse windows a much-needed clean. After our hard work, we were rewarded with delicious homemade brownies baked by Ian’s wife—a perfect treat!

Feeling accomplished and well-fed, we ran back to Old Spike, spirits high despite the rain.

Re-tree-ving Christmas

Southwark Report written by Emma McNally

We met up at Old Spike on a chilly January evening, which was a nice way to kick things off after the Christmas break. After a quick warm-up, we headed up to Telegraph Hill and the Christmas tree graveyard.

We split into two teams, led by Lindy and Paulin, and set about collecting abandoned Christmas trees. Between us we managed to pick up a brilliant 12 trees in total. It ended in a draw, so the Percy Pigs prize was shared out all round.

The run back down the hill was much easier, and once we were back at Old Spike we wrapped things up with a cool-down.

Brisk night @ Dawsons Heights

Southwark Report written by Lindy Macfarlane

On a chilly December night 7 goodgymmers braved the elements to ascend Dawson's Heights for the penultimate task of the year. Crooked beds fixed. Bulbs planted. Wood chip spread. Before returning to base and seeking warm refuge in the new and improved Nags Head. Good Job Team

It's a bin-teresting day out!

Southwark Report written by Isaac Beevor (He/him)

We did a fun litter pick in the Goldsmith Nature Reserve in Peckham. All sorts was collected by the team with a huge 4 bags of litter removed from the Nature Garden in 35 minutes.

The garden was less enchanting than Tom's midnight garden, although if we had stayed until the witching hour who knows how it would have come alive!?

On the way back we were plogging - running and litter picking, although some were better at that than others.

A little chaotic, a little cold but we all had a good time and it did feel like the Nature Garden has a lot less litter now.
