After completing a social 5k and earning their GG medal, members of GoodGym Cardiff and Vale gathered to litter pick along the Taff trail.
On first appearances the route looked clear, but after heading along the river, around the football pitches and playparks the bags started filling. 11 bags of rubbish were collected in just over 30 minutes.
In the absence of parkrun and GG group activities the social run (split into small groups and varying paces) and litter pick was a clear success and one to be replicated in the future.
Well done to all involved. If you signed up online to the virtual 5k, don't forget to get your times loaded up. The real race starts now - who's medal will be first through the letter box?

Not quite a GoodGym takeover but 12 GoodGymmers turned out to support our local Parkrun at Blackweir this morning.
Arriving from all corners of Cardiff, we gathered at the meeting point to collect our high-viz and then headed off to our designated areas. Some of us marshalled at the "big tree", some of us at the "crossroads" and some of us were simply "halfway point of the playing fields." We bellowed and clapped the runners of Cardiff around the course, making sure they were sticking to the right and aware of the various hazards (notably the super speedy runners already on the return leg and the bikers who we share the path with). Others had important tasks at the start/finish line - funneling, bar code scanning and packing up.
An amazing 954 runners had made it around the Blackweir course!
Once the tail walkers had gone past, we headed back to the start/end for a well deserved coffee before our next task of bird spotting for the RSPB Bird Watch.
A great start to Cardiff and Vale's SuperSaturday!

After starting the new year with a parkrun, eight cardiff goodgym runners stuck around and completed a litter pick. The runners even inspired some new years day walkers to grab some litter they were passing and dispose of them in our bags
January challenge has kicked off and GG Cardiff and the Vale have hit the ground running

GoodGym and Big Moose runners combined forces for an 8 mile training run!
On Sunday morning, exactly 4 weeks before the Cardiff Half Marathon, over 25 runners showed up to go for an 8 mile training run. After a short warm up, which included running behind Cardiff castle and a game of Stuck in the Dance, everyone was ready to go!
Everyone then ran 8 miles (4 miles out and back) and after went to Big Moose for some post run pasta and salad!
A big thank you to the pacers!:
And a huge thank you to Big Moose for putting on the pasta party after the run!

Darragh Hanley-Crofts earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.
Darragh completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Darragh was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.
