Spread some festive cheer and collect donations for charity

Sat 6th Dec at 2:00pm
Helping with packing away the Christmas Fair. This mission involved moving tables, dismantling chairs, and shifting numerous items from the hall into the storage container. The extra pairs of hands proved incredibly helpful for the heavier jobs and it was a great workout.

After GoodGymers helped to set up the fair yesterday, this afternoon it was time to clear it all away. We filled boxes, shifted them, dismantled tables, stacked chairs, swept up and left everything clean and tidy. The fair raises money to help the homeless so it's great that we could pitch in and be of assistance.

Post-Parkrun was spent helping Friends of Morden Park tackle a classic winter task: mulching the pathway. Armed with shovels and barrows, we made great progress spreading fresh woodchip along the path to help keep the mud at bay during the wetter months, making the path accessible and neat. It was a great workout of shoveling and wheelbarrow relay!

It was a lovely morning for volunteering as we supported with cheering on runners then scanning barcodes playing a vital role in kicking off everyone's weekend with a dose of active community spirit.

A massive festive effort from the team today at St. James Church in Morden helping set up their annual Christmas Fair. It was a great physical session with plenty of heavy lifting, moving tables, chairs, and countless boxes from storage to the main stall areas.
Thanks to our trademark GoodGym speed and muscle we completed the main setup in just 30 minutes. Leaving plenty of time to help with the organising phase, assisting with setting out the items on the stalls, and grabbing a well-deserved cuppa before heading out into the evening. A lovely contribution to the festive season's volunteering efforts.

After bunching up rosemary at Mitcham Orchard there was time for a quick relay to deliver the fresh harvest to Merton's Community Fridge for the next distribution session.

This festive mission took us to Deen City Farm to help transform the space, ready for Santa's Grotto visits. The team had a brilliant time channeling their inner elves. We worked on creating the enchanting scene: assembling Christmassy arches draped with lights, setting out candy cane pathways, and making friends with some polar bears.
What a fun way to bring some Christmas magic to the community. We are looking forward to being back next week for elfing duties, why not join us: https://www.goodgym.org/happenings/elf-support-at-deen-city-farm-0243bc94-e4ae-4faa-bf54-6436ae548cec

A productive morning at Mitcham Orchard preparing the orchard for the colder months:
Mulching: We spread mulch around the trees. Learning that this vital layer insulates roots, retains moisture, and suppresses weeds. Harvesting herbs: The air was filled with fragrance as we harvested the rosemary and oregano, carefully bunching the sprigs. These bundles are now ready for drying and sharing, ensuring nothing goes to waste.
It was a delightful and productive session, with everyone enjoying the fresh air and the satisfaction of getting outside and active.
