With a smaller group, likely due to the holiday period, we were glad to have some space to maneuver at Full Cycle tonight! We put our pedal to the metal to handle the assault course of stairs and limited space with a remarkable chain reaction of good deeds.
First, shifting a huge number of bikes, then more shifting bikes, followed by a moving a mountain of rims and wheels. Our final job was to create some inner peace by rolling up countless tubes for recycling. We got a massive amount done and were rewarded with first dibs on some recently donated cycling gear!
A wheelie warm welcome to Louise and well done in your first task and hopefully see you again soon.

The Merton posse turned up at the community garden armed with their gardening gloves, knee pads and trowels, all set for a session of weeding. But as it turned out, first on the list of tasks was relocating the numerous (but very well hidden) caterpillars from the cabbage patches into the wild flower area.
Some of us were better than others at spotting the tiny green creatures, but thankfully there was plenty of watering, dead heading and general tidying of this wonderful community resource to keep those of us with less than great eyesight busy. And a gardening task wouldn't be a gardening task without at least a little weeding.
Any calories burnt off over the hour were more than made up for by the Scottish delicacies kindly shared with the team by Rachael. So everyone left with a smile on their face and sugar on their tongues. Well, you've got to refuel, right?

After a morning run, I headed over to a mission for Mrs. R. She was already outside cutting lavender when I arrived and shared how inspired she felt to get up and get active today! I got stuck into the cutting and clearing and 5 bags were filled. Mrs R was very pleased at the difference we made even though there's plenty more to do on another visit, but it was a fantastic start!

Tonight we teamed up with Emma from the Mitcham Hedgehog Project for a truly insightful mission: setting up tunnels to survey the local area for hedgehogs! After a quick brief, we dove headfirst into preparing the triangular tunnels. Painting each side of the A4 paper inserts with a mix of vegetable oil and charcoal ink was a real ink-genious method!
Then, we hedged our bets across six locations, taking turns to set up the dry cat food bait and securely pin down the tunnels to minimise any movement. It was a unique and un-fur-gettable session helping to protect our prickly friends and we learned a hedge-load about the local hedgehogs and the area!
A huge welcome to Rita and congratulations on completing your first GoodGym task, and a big hello to Williams, who joined us from a neighbouring area. Great to have you along and hope to see you again soon.
