Last night we had a busy and brilliant evening celebrating Luke 's 50th good deed, welcoming Manish to his first, and doing a poignant good deed - helping Discover Welling take down the Remembrance poppies along the high street.
When we did this task last year it was a struggle cutting through the cable ties in the finger-numbing cold.
This time, thanks to the eco-friendly reusable ties we’d used to put them up, and a much milder evening, the job was far easier!
Afterwards we found a big table at the pub for a lovely social with eats, drinks, lots of chat and laughter.
As well as forgetting to take any photos during the task, it turns out that we missed a few poppies too. But Julie was in the area this morning and collected them in her highly appropriate Royal British Legion bag.
The poppies and cable ties will be safely stored away so that Welling can pay its respects again next November ❤️

Each November, Discover Welling put up large poppies on lamp posts along Welling high street to mark Remembrance.
We teamed up with them again this year to help get the job done. Managers from the new Puregym in Welling came along too.
There was a strong and bitter wind conspiring against us, but working as two teams covering either end of the street, and with some brisk walking, we got the forty lamp posts poppy-fied in no time!
We'll be helping take the poppies down again after Remembrance Day, so why not come along and give us a hand?

Julie R earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.
Julie completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Julie was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

In this evening's blue-sky sunshine our GoodGymers gathered in Welling, ready to bring a bit of nature and brightness to the streets.
The plan? A two-part mission with Discover Welling: first, to plant heather, hebes and other plants in the raised flower beds adjacent to the car park, and then to line the approach to Welling Station with cheery flowers.
🌿 We kicked off in the car park, where the raised beds were in need of some TLC. Armed with trowels and teamwork, we got stuck in, digging, planting, and patting down soil around the new plants. We picked out accumulated rubbish and weeds, and dug out the thistles. A sweep-up around area finished the job.
🌼 We walked around the corner to the approach leading up to Welling Station. In no time, pansies and violas were creating a splash of colour for all the commuters and passers-by.
🍏 As we wrapped up, we couldn’t help noticing apples on a nearby tree. A little bit of scrumping added a sweet note to the evening.
🦗 Then a grasshopper hopped over to inspect our work — perhaps the ultimate seal of approval from Mother Nature herself.
It was lovely to have Dulisha with us for her first GoodGym task. We hope you enjoyed the session, Dulisha, and look forward to seeing you again! And it was nice to have Adele from Discover Welling with us too.
