What a way to end the last Food Bank Aid volunteering shift of the year!
It's clearly getting closer to Xmas as the Food hub was full to the bream with donations!
Justine was volunteering at the Food Bank Aid hub for the first thyme and has done an eggcelent job sorting out all the donations and supermarket deliveries. You would think she is done it all her life! She Veni, vidi, vici since she walked through that door!
It's bean non-stop today from 3.30pm until 5pm! Cloud & Justine were joint with 13 other keen volunteers!
The buzz and the pace was electrifying today! We sorted out presents, wrapping paper, xmas puddings, chocolate boxes and 100s of other items that will be sent to local food banks next week.
The Food Bank Aid supports over 14000 people each week, 4000 of those are children.
We will be posting more missions to the Food Bank Aid hub in the NY, keep an eye on the calendar!
keep up the great work GGers!

A few Goodgym members came together to help Cherry Tree Wood with litter picking. We arrived early to take part in a guided tour of the history of this special green space in Barnet. Thanks to Rodger for an interesting and fun walk around the 13 acre wood. The wood is a relic of a bygone age and part of a mediaeval haunting park for the Bishop of London. It’s got a CAFE, tennis courts and playing today a basketball court. Worth a visit!

A few Goodgym members came together on a beautiful spring morning to help at Highgate woods. We gathered near the CAFE for a chat and introduction. After a gentle warmup (just to get in the right mood) we headed off to do some forest work under the direction of Cindy the Ranger. We looked to use pre-cut Holly to block off paths and provide the border fencing to help encourage new growth and to protect wild flowers, young trees and shrubs. We also removed a dangerous wood construction ( denstruction!)and added it to our forest fencing. We finished in good time and did some gentle yoga in the dappled light below the trees. Thanks for coming and helping. You did good!

Justine Berkovitz earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.
Justine completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Justine was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

Fourteen magnificent GoodGym members came together in HighGate Woods to help the Ranger with Forest fencing. It was a lovely crisp winters morning as we gathered to listen to Cindy explain what we were doing. Quite simply we were repairing forest fences to protect the bluebells for the spring. We set to work and Cindy seemed very impressed at how quickly we got The job done so we had time for a tour of the forest. This included information on the history, forest management, and wildlife. thank you Cindy! Hope you enjoyed the session and don’t forget to give a cheer to the people you worked with on the GoodGym website. in particular give your support and a cheer to Henna Dorota on their first community mission.
Some of us went for a coffee others went on to another community mission in Crouch end! Well done all!
We gather again on Tuesday evening at the phoenix cinema 7 pm to help A forest school one kilometre away.
Thanks for coming and making a difference in your local Community.
