With some mild trepidation in the air prior to setting off on account of the uphill trend on the way to last nights run, 10 intrepid GG'ers went out into the dark windy streets of Sheffield!
We headed uphill to help COURAGEOUS CRAIG (superstar Sustrans Volunteer and all round good guy) to clear a wet and muddy leaf ridden section of an otherwise fantastic part of the Sustrans National Cycle Network (NCN).
Though the path was dark and the sweeping tough going our tenacious team might light work of the leafy lane, brushing wet, slippery, hazardous leaves and mud over to the side of the path and down the embankment to stop the leaves blowing back on to the path and encouraging some magnificent mulch on the other side of the fence for the trees to feast upon!
No leaf was left unturned and on walking back to the start of the path the impact we had made was evident, giving all a warm glow of the good we had done that eve.
What goes up, must come down and down we did go which helped us all stay together much easier. On return to The Showroom the heavens began to open. Once back at base we had an optional stretch down or quick stair squat set before heading into The Showroom for some drinks and in some cases very casual chips...
Until next time, happy running :)

On a wet and wild Halloween night we set off from The Showroom for Hillsborough jumping puddles, with the rain bouncing off the tarmac!
We didn't let it dampen our spirits though and made it to the fantastic space that is the revamped bowling pavilion to meet with AMAZING ALEX who had done a fantastic job of prepping our task for the evening which was to sort clothes for an upcoming (see photos) jumble sale to help with the cost of living crisis, keep vulnerable people warm and make some money for Age UK in Sheffield. WIN WIN WIN.
We lost count of how many bags were sorted but it was A LOT, so the jumble is well worth a look if your after some garms.
After a group photo, we popped our already wet kit on and headed back out into the dark deluge for round 2. The rain hadn't let up, even flooding the tramlines! Once back, warm showers and hot dinners were definitely priority number one and very well earned.
Until next time, happy running! :)

Four committed GG runners headed down into Pitsmoor tonight to join the Pitsmoor pickers on an evening pick.
We headed down at a really good pace and met with two other pickers to help with the efforts of keeping Pitsmoor litter free, a big task but one we were undaunted by.
With fireworks overhead for Diwali we gloved up and got picking. In the end we managed to get 4 bags of rubbish together and leave ready for the council to collect it.
On route back we did some paired leg work outside Ponds Forge by using the stairs for some 1-2-squats and some hill sprints which had us with shaky legs towards the end. Once back at The Showroom we stretched off and had a look at the fantastic Halloween themed artwork in the venue before grabbing a drink and heading home.

It was not an attractive prospect looking out of a Sheffield window for tonight's run with grey sky's overhead, wet on the floor and the chance of wet from the sky. However a hardy bunch braved the prospect of poor weather and headed out to help out Heeley People's Park who had just that weekend hosted a Big Boulder festival event.
We headed out from base up toward the park and got a brief on the evenings tasks which included;
The team did a fantastic job and the place was looking so much better after a small spell of work from the @GGSHEFF crew. We even had the local PCSO's pull up to see what was going on here then. They were pleased and thankful with our efforts.
On route back to base we stopped at the U-Mix centre to hangout for a bit of fitness.
This week we did the hanging challenge where each member performed a straight arm hang for as long as they could with times being shouted out to try and be beaten at home or at some point in the future.
Following this we had a little sprint on the red track before regrouping at the finish line and jogging back to base to finish, stretch off and hear the latest news, including a big cheer for Celine who has now done he 50th good deed so had the now customary red GG bowtie on all run and will have her black GG tee winging it's way to her in the post soon!
Until next time, happy running!

Stockport Report written by Tom Mutton
With the weather looking threatening, the brave souls of GG Stockport headed out of the comfort of Grand Central on the road toward tonights task which was helping clean and tidy a local church.
With many a traffic light on route this gave us a good chance to catch our breath.
Heading toward the rainbow we took our final turn into the church and found the correct entrance round the back of the church.
Our jobs for the eve included;
After a good session making the church gleam in the sunshine and showers we got a bit of cheeky fitness in. This week included;
After grabbing bags we headed home in the humid and drizzly weather, which we were welcome of to cool us down.
We bid our fairwells back at base until another week.
Thanks for being such a great group, hope to see you all again sometime soon!
Happy Running :)
