Bromley Report written by Bromley runner
Back at Beckenham Green, and as we head into autumn fallen leaves were starting to stack up. With 4 GoodGymers ready to roll, we were assigned sweeping duty, and we hurtled through it 👊
First Leaonie and I collected the debris by the fence near the M&S corner, with Kelly starting work near the planters and joined by Ria. We then all moved up to the planters and brought the leaves down to our big pile, which was thrown behind the fence into the nature trail to start rotting down and provide good food for the plants there.
Having smashed that out in 50 minutes, we proceeded to remove some weeds from the planters and help install some wanted, propagated plants to fill in the gaps.
A lovely team and a fun task - thanks for making it a great start to the weekend 🎉

Bromley Report written by Mark Gilyead (he/him)
The heat of last week seems a long time ago... but it was enough for an emergency callout from the Blenheim and Arpley Residents Association for some help with some watering at their new community garden.
Equipped with a couple of watering cans and a big plastic bottle (v. resourceful) we managed to get round all the plants from hops to potatoes and ensured they were nicely soaked.

We were up bright and early on Saturday to help Jo and the Maple Road Market team set up for their first market of 2024. Leaonie, Kate and I packed van loads of gazebos and tables at the storage locker with Simon and Tyrell while Charlie waited on site with the rest of the market team ready to help unload the equipment. Once all of the equipment was on site, we set to work putting up gazebos for stall holders and (after some initial head scratching) quickly became pros. Our community mission was wrapped up by 9.30am and we celebrated having done a good deed in the sunshine with coffee and pastries at a local cafe. What a lovely way to start the weekend!
