What an eventful night we had last night at GoodGym Leeds!
The group ran up to Beckhill Community Garden to help them weed, woodchip and tidy up. At the start of the session a group of local children had found a dog wandering around alone. Luckily, he was a friendly old gentleman and he let me pick him up. After trying to find an owner and having no luck, we decided to take him to a local vet so that they could scan him for a microchip. Jason luckily wasn't far from home so ran up to get his car & drove me and the dog to the vets. Whilst the vet found a chip, the number was out of service, so I was about to bring him back and see which GoodGymer could keep him for the night when Helen called saying they'd found the owner...phew! The dogs name was Charlie & he'd had quite the adventure! Safe to say he was happy to be reunited with his mum.
Meanwhile, Helen had fixed a little girls bike whilst we'd been gone and the others actually did the job we were there to do!
What a dramatic evening spent helping the whole community. Good work team!
Welcome back to Naomi :)

Last night we headed down to Meanwood Valley Farm for the first time in years. We had two teams at work tonight: Team 1, Lydia, Katie & Kawan clearing the garden & Christian & Lydia wheeling the vegetation to the the compost heap. Then there was Team Number 2, Kat, Katie, Jubz & Jason who were moving compost from one bin to the next. Not a hugely popular job as the compost was full of number twos from the farm animals! A smelly job indeed, but Jubz still managed a smile. Well done guys! At least you got to say hello to a friendly goat :)

Lynn earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.
Lynn completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Lynn was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

Four GoodGymers helped out with the Green Fair in Woodhouse this weekend.
Laura & Lynn helped set up the marquees and Helen went along after the fair had opened to ride the Climate Action Leeds bike to power their juice stand.
Beth organised the whole thing! What a great event.
Good work team!

We are a small charity with limited resources, so jobs like this often fall by the wayside. It helps us to continue to focus on our core work, but also with compost, it means we can have less inputs and save money
