We-ed Clenched It!!

Windsor and Maidenhead Report written by Mandy Driver

Thursday 6:15/ 6:30pm is GoodGym Windsor Night! Adam, Zoe and Didem met Mandy at the task where Mandy had just met the task owner Daniel.

For tonights community mission we were back at Achieving for Children - Family Hub Service in Hanover Way.

Twas a dark and stormy ๐ŸŒ‘๐Ÿ’จnight on our first visit but even then the Windsor GGs did lots to clear the area and weed etc but we couldnโ€™t paint the bench so we were back to finish the job on a sunny autumn evening โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ

Sue had previously laid some grass seed which had taken well so we trimmed that but some pesky weeds had grown back so Didem and Mandy tackled those first in the grass, the steps and front of the building while Adam and Zoe rubbed down the bench and step. Then it was time to paint after having a good inspection of each paint pot for the best consistency and giving it a good stir with a trusty stick found by Didem.

It is a small area but there was no standing still. Oh no instead while waiting there was squatting, lunging and plenty of โ€˜guess if my bum ๐Ÿ‘ is clenched or not clenchedโ€™ game ๐Ÿคฃ lots of chit chat and an update on the latest phone tech from Adam.

After the task there was a game of beach ball catch to play and a couple of rounds of jumping jacks to improve our butts.

Donโ€™t forget those before and afters photos ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿคฃ and letโ€™s see the results next year!

We handed back to the task owner the brushes and paint and said our goodbyes with a curtsy and bow.

Thank you all for the giggles ๐Ÿคฃ ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ and completed task!

Deliver - rain and bow ๐ŸŒˆ

Windsor and Maidenhead Report written by Mandy Driver

Thursday 6:15/ 6:30pm is GoodGym Windsor Night!

Tonights community mission we were back at one of our regular task venues Age Concern, The Spencer Denney Centre.

Our task was leafleting to raise awareness of the centre and fundraising so the GG postie trio Caroline , Bekah and Mandy got walking along the Clewer Hill Road, Rycroft, Duncroft and Perrycroft.

The rain showers at first made us sad ๐Ÿคฃ but it speeded us up ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ and we had to hug ourselves to protect the leaflets from getting wet ๐Ÿ’ฆ and soggy.

But the beautiful sky, sunset ๐ŸŒ…and rainbow ๐ŸŒˆ made us happy ๐Ÿ˜€ to be out and about.

Lots of chats about our days, family etc as we went along.

We had no leaflets left so we made our way back to the centre, did the Windsor curtsy and bow then made our way home.

Thank you Caroline and Bekah for your help and braving the weather. ๐Ÿ“ฎ ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐ŸŒฆ๏ธ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Chip chip hooray!

Windsor and Maidenhead Report written by Mandy Driver

Thursday 6:15/ 6:30pm is GoodGym Windsor Night!

Tonights community mission was for the beautiful Alexander First School which was surprisingly dry despite the storms all afternoon.

We met task owner Adrienn at the school gates and made our way across the stunning school grounds for the task brief.

Didem, Amy and Mandy started with filing the sand pit using sand delivered to the car park area and transporting three wheel barrows full across the field before joining Sheila and Helen who were checking out the main task at the forest school.

We had a pile of wood chips to disperse into the forest and along the pathway and play areas to prepare for the winter mud.

It was really physical and so satisfying seeing the pike of wood chips going down and the path way being developed. We shared stories of our week and holidays while we worked.

Once that pile was all gone , wood you believe it, we had a second pile to tackle in the other forest school area . Now that involved up hill negotiations and we did well not to slip over with our loads. Helen did have a little topple of her barrow filling but โ€˜chip ๐Ÿ’ฉ happens! ๐Ÿคฃโ€™ and it was scooped back in.

The night was drawing in and we were working on barrowed time. So we had our team photo and returned the tools to the storage area.

We celebrated our valued friend-chip, said our goodbyes and perfectly demonstrated the Windsor curtsy and bow ๐Ÿ‘‘

Thank you all for coming!

Rounder Applause!

Windsor and Maidenhead Report written by Mandy Driver

Thursday 6:15/ 6:30pm is GoodGym Windsor Night!

Tonights community mission was for a bit different and the weather didnโ€™t disappoint!

We were at The Pirate Park doing litter picking as our primary task but with some GoodGym awareness thrown in giving out leaflets and a social game of rounders and gathering of to celebrate our achievements so far in Windsor.

We would have loved to have had more of you there but we do appreciate everyoneโ€™s help since Jan and dedication to Windsorโ€™s good causes to huge ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป to you all!

Thank you also today to Pippa for her very first GoodGym session. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘‘

ANDโ€ฆ.. Sheila for her 703rd task ! ๐Ÿฅณ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

We all met at The Pirate Park Caroline, Marilyn, Bekah, Jen, Sara, Mandy, Devon, Sheila and Pippa swept the park with litter pickers on our way to the far side where we were to play rounders.

We handed out some GoodGym Windsor leaflets to some runners and walkers in the park.

We set out the nibbles from The Binoy and got some music on. We decided on our rounders teams (Team Bhajis and Team Samosa) and set up the game. Weโ€™ll be honest it wasnโ€™t very organised or indeed very fair ๐Ÿ˜ฌ but we all had a go and we all tried our best.

Pippa did a bit more litter picking and Devon and Mandy and Marilyn had a run around the field.

The others started on the Indian nibbles and cakes and eventually we all regrouped for a catch up.

Thank you all for coming ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ you are all litter-ally the best!

Clucking Roots!

Windsor and Maidenhead Report written by Mandy Driver

Thursday 6:15/ 6:30pm is GoodGym Windsor Night!

Tonights community mission was for Alexander First School.

Jen walked from The Binoy but was stalked en route by Mandy seeing her walk past her house. Jenni H, Helen and Didem met us at the task.

We were met by the task owner Adrienn who showed us the areas we needed to start on.

Tonight we had lots of digging up to do to remove plants and small plants/trees from two areas near the school building.

As always give GoodGymers a challenge they wonโ€™t leave without achieving it. So those roots were not staying. We found all the tiny roots and the pick ones. Cut away and used the spade and gave it a wiggle here and there.

We took the bags of roots to the compost and saw the other chickens ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ“

Just after the team photo we had a go at some netball/basket ball shots with an expert on hand to show us howโ€™s itโ€™s done. The task owners husband is an ex basketball player! Although you were all very good ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ€

We were also lucky enough to be given some tomatoes from their vegetable garden and eggs from the chickens.

After the Windsor curtsy and bow we made our way home.

Thank you to Jenni for helping with the photos and everyone all for coming it was another outdoorsy fun evening !

League of our own!

Windsor and Maidenhead Report written by Mandy Driver

Thursday 6:15/ 6:30pm is GoodGym Windsor Night!

Tonights community mission was for Windsor and Eton FC CIC.

Some of us met at the task some made their way walking or running from The Binoy.

Huge welcome to Helen for her first GG session ! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

We were met by task owner Mark for a run down of the jobs we needed to do tonight which put us in separate areas and split into teams.

Helen and Didem in the dug out scraping the loose paint to prep for painting and sweeping up the debris.

Jen, Sol and Sara sealing knots in the new wooden doors and rubbing down filler to prep for painting.

Sue and Mandy were removing mould from the changing room ceiling to prep for anti mould painting.

We regrouped when all the jobs were done.

We finished with a fun fitness footy sidelines doubles game (well we forgot which pair we were in but still ) and the match of the day soundtrack was playing to keep us in the football spirit. We did dribbling, skipping, side gallops and lunges followed by jumping jacks until the tune ended! Well done team you smashed it!

Windsor curtsy and bow then some of us made our way home together or back to the Binoy.

Jenโ€™s challenge of this report for a bonus point for the first person that spots and names the hidden bird in the photos.

Thank you to Didem and Jen for helping with the photos and everyone all for coming it was a fun evening !
