Windsor and Maidenhead Report written by Windsor and Maidenhead runner
That was Rachel's reaction when she visited the community allotment for the first time this year. So much has been added . Phoebe tried out the beer pumps, but they seem to have run dry! Georgeta was already busy doing the watering as we can't quite believe that it might actually rain tonight. While Rachel and Neeta helped her, Phoebe and Sheila shovelled some soil into a wheelbarrow and transported it over to the other side of the car park. Here, one of the apple trees had some bare root exposed, so we piled up the soil to cover the roots. We had also been asked to pile some old soil and rubble up around the fig to help retain the water when it is watered. We found the bags of material we could use, and built a little wall around the fig, adding bricks and stones and firming it down. We did a watering test run and it seemed to work!. Neeta also did a litter pick, gathering up lots of bits of plastic that have gathered around the allotment area. Now, I wonder if it will rain tonight?

"Wilted" was the word that came to mind when brainstorming, as Lisa, Sheila, Neeta and myself met at the Community Allotment to tend to the plants on such a hot and dry summer evening. šš„µš„µš¾š¾ We gave the wilting veggies a good drink of water, we couldn't refill the water butts because the tap top went missing and it's whereabouts is still a mystery, and then moved on to doing some weeding. It was really good to welcome back Neeta to GoodGym, after a long time. She's brought along her two furry babies, Coco and Bella, who both kept a watchful eye on us, while we were going about our gardening tasks. Since Neeta didn't want to be photographed, I took the opportunity to post a photo of Bella... or was it Coco?... I hope they don't mind. š¾š¶

Rachel, Georgeta, Neeta and Sheila got up very early on a Sunday morning to help out at the Town Show. Stallholders arriving at the entrance to the Nicholsons Centre had to be found a place to park temporarily while they unloaded their stuff, directed to their pitch and sent off to park their cars, all as quickly as possible before the next cohort arrived. Everyone worked tirelessly, particularly helping the solo stallholders, and some of them had ALOT of stuff! Great work, everyone
