Our 4th opportunity to complete the Tub2Pub challenge was off to a good start this morning. Gill met up with Teklay and Atsiba and promised them a scenic route to the Jolly Topers. The sun was shining and they agreed that a walk through the woods would make a nice change. What we hadn't anticipated was the amount if mud we'd encounter. But we got through it unscathed and were soon on our way to meet up with Abdulrahman and Mogammed and delivered our tubs atvthe bar. Meanwhile Laura was off to the Bakers Arms in Stewardstone to deliver her tub, while Ella followed in our footsteps later in the afternoon with a trip to the Jolly Topers.

Teklay and Gill were joined at Riverbank by Atsiba this week. While the two guys got busy with digging up the ivy roots Gill was collecting up bricks and rubble and barrowing them to the entrance of the site. Then there was sawing to be done to remove some overhanging branches while the headteacher provided some guidance, and collecting up fallen branches and debris. It was hard work but fortunately Gill had bought a tin of shortbread to keep our energy levels up. We’re really starting to see the area developing into what will be a great woodland environment for the schoolchildren , and it’s a great sense of achievement.

This week we welcomed Karwan and Lee to their first GoodGym session before we ran across town to the Luton Airport Parkway train station. It was a rainy night but the running kept us warm on our outward journey to the station. In the woods opposite the car park there was a large collection of litter and dumped clothes that Gill had spotted on her runs through the area.
We arrived on-site to meet Kevin from ABCD Luton, get kitted out with hoops and pickers and ventured into the woods where a handy shopping trolley because our shuttle for heavy bags and bulky items to the collection pile.
With a large team the large mess was sorted out really quickly, we made a huge pile for collection by the council and then set off for the second half of our run, back to the Galaxy for a cool down stretch.
