Report written by Yianny (he / him)
Last night we were back out there despite the freezing conditions and constant threat of rain (which thank fully never came!)
Ellie was back with us which was great and Alice continues her streak meeting us at the task.
This task is one of our longest runs at around 3.5kms each way from base however a little local knowledge and we were able to use a few shortcuts to reduce the distance slightly - very helpful for those recovering from injuries despite the elevation gain!
The task was a familiar one, help Andrea move GROAD's donations from one storage unit to another. Given how much they are growing at the moment we were expecting a gargantuan stack of things but it turns out the Andrea has done a huge amount of the work (BY HERSELF!) so we had a more manageable amount and some huge barrels to shift.
Marie-Noelle and Paul were already there by the time we arrived and were on box breakdown duty for recycling so Charlotte, Alice, Michael and Ellie grabbed a trolley for a crash - literally - course in steering rear wheel steering.
For the most part it was a straightforward job of stacking boxes onto trolleys and moving them but one more complex operation was huge barrels full of clothes stacked floor to ceiling so climbing on a high chair and dropping the barrels onto the waiting hands of others. Happily everyone was kept safe and the task was fully complete by the time we left.
The run back to base involved a short but steep uphill followed by a long shallow decline back down to Brixton - hurrah to that!
Thank you everyone and see you next time :0)
