There were two GoodGymers, Elsie and Joel, and two volunteers from St George’s, Erina and Comfort. The food bank isn’t open on a Monday, so today was the day to take in new deliveries and get the shelves set up right. We sorted through veg, unpacked and stored donated food from supermarkets and the like, and filled the shelves ready for tomorrow. We got a second delivery and had time to unload that ready for the afternoon team to complete the job. All in all was simple but satisfying, nice to meet new people and the loading and unloading provided some physical effort to boot.

The food cooperative provides members with low cost food to help reduce food bills and tackle food insecurity. It also reuses surplus food to prevent food being thrown away.
