Judy and I went along to the Fratton Festival of Light. We were adopted by Manor Infant School (who we have helped on a couple of group runs) and carried some of their lanterns in the parade. Unfortunately we didn't get the delight of walking down Fratton Road with a rolling road block as the route was changed due to the dodgy weather but we did get to parade around the church grounds accompanied by Batala and in a long snake with lots of different lanterns on show.
The lanterns that we made a few weeks ago were used in the Phoenix Dance performance and some of them will now be hung on the large Christmas tree in St Mary's Church. So if you go to the carol service on Sunday you will see our little lanterns on the tree.
We stayed to watch the final performance from Batala as Judy's husband was drumming with them - very good and VERY noisy, especially in the enclosed space of the church.
It was a lovely community event for Fratton. And I have all the dates for the big events in 2019 so watch the website / your emails for updates about how you can get involved.
