This morning we met up in the most difficult car park to direct to in Portsmouth! Despite some confusion we did manage to make our way there.
We were joined by MP for Portsmouth South, Stephen Morgan and Central Southsea Councillor George Fielding who got stuck in like GoodGym pros. We also had little litter pickers in the form of Betsy and Alice.
Feeling tyred?
We mostly stayed around the car park area and up into the road at the back of Great Salterns this month as there was A LOT of litter to pick up and lots of odd things in the bushes... All the big pieces got taken straight to the bin including a lot of polystyrene, a drainpipe and a broom. Tracey looked like she was entering a strong woman competition as she carried 2 tyres over to the bin.
Safe hands
Stephen found a couple of the more interesting pieces today - a safe (sadly empty) and the head rest from a car seat. Lynn found a chair frame, Sam pulled half a cat cookie jar out of the brambles and Catherine picked up a whole black sack of shoes.
Jen was vying for the title of best dressed litter picker (George was also looking super smart!) as she was off to a party straight afterwards - this didn't stop her climbing over a wall to get to some litter she'd spotted - always dedicated to the cause.
After an hour we had collected many bags of rubbish & recycling - big thanks to Sarah for taking our cans and plastic bottles home to her green bin and to Mel for stopping at the bottle bank to recycle the glass.
We'll be back again at Great Salterns in March - 1st Sunday of every month at 11am, hope to see you then. Before that we have plenty of other opportunities to do good so see you all soon!
