The first wave flew off on a kayaking start

My 100 good deed t-shirt arrived yesterday so it got an airing today. Even talked about Good gym and what we do to another volunteer who asked what we got up to. There were 5 waves in total. Each started with a 1km kayak then a 15km bike ride then a 5k run. I was helping out with the third wave telling them where to place their bikes and attach numbers to themselves and their bikes. I was amazed to see bikes from the sublime carbon fibre sports bikes with TT handlebars to a ladies town bike with a nice basket on front. We had to record the times that they took to do each session and be handy with the energy babies during each change over. The bike ride out was a test for their stamina against a strong headwind along the seafront to Old Portsmouth. The cycle back wasn't as easy as some had hoped. They then had to swap footwear for the final sprint (or walk) back to the finish. The first 2 back in my wave was a lady closely followed by a guy. The 3rd place followed after 5 minutes. The first 3 all got a box of goodies but everyone else got their medals, crisps and the longed for water. It was well organised and great fun was had by all. Can't wait to help with the next 2 and lets hope the weather will be warmer and kinder.
