Eighteen excellent GoodGymmers ran 3km to help maintain lovely cold fall woods.
Meeting at the Phoenix, we welcomed Kat for her first GoodGym run: welcome! We set off with Fiona backmarking. It's about 1.5k so we took it at an easy pace with plenty of chatting.
On arrival, we met with Linda who explained our tasks for the evening: litter picking! We divided into twos, threes and a four and set off around the woods. The teams combed the woods searching for litter and quickly started to fill their bags.
The woods are generally very well kept - a testament to Linda and her volunteers - but we soon found plenty of litter. Naturally, there was also time to pose for a few photos.
We had about half an hour and used it all up searching for litter and filling our bags. After a bit of effort at the end to find everyone (👀) we gathered together for a quick photo and to pile our bags for the council to collect in the morning. We said our goodbyes and set off.
It was time for a fitness session. After a bit of discussion earlier in the day we set about a fartlek session using the lines of half a football pitch. Using the short side for relaxed pace and the longer sides for harder work, the team got stuck in. We did about 6 minutes of alternating easy and harder running. Tiring work but a great effort. Then it was the finisher: a plank! Everyone did well but particular kudos to the very competitive Graham and Pesh who managed four minutes! 😱 You can see their tired pose afterward above.
From there it was a nice relaxed run back to the Phoenix for stretches, and most importantly, to catch up with our marathon hero Mumtaz!! She smashed the London Marathon on Sunday so it was time for congratulations and to show off the medal of course!
Great work everyone - looking forward to next week already.
Ps you better believe the report title is an NSYNC pun 🤜
