Spick and span @no. 44

Leicester Report written by Sarah

6 Goodgymmers came along to today's task down the canal at Bede Lock 44, a beautiful location for a sunny day, how lucky were we!

Today's task was cutting back the vegetation along the tow path with Rich from the Canal and River Trust. With all his tools and life jackets we were very well equipped for the job. After our safety briefing we were on our merry way passing the rats and on to the tow path.

Everyone got stuck in, Nick tackling a self seeded budleah growing along the path and other weeds along the edge. Our newest member Samir came back for his second Good deed, weldone Samir fantastic efforts, especially speed walking to the task.

Jimmy cycled, Dawn walked, Sarah and Stu saved their legs for racing half marathon's on Sunday, Sarah's in York and Stu's in Wales, good luck both and weldone all.

Dawn Lee completed 25 good deeds with GoodGym.

Dawn has already done 25 good deeds with GoodGym. Instead of doing anything else, they've used their run to go and help people that need their help; digging, lifting, scraping, clearing, planting and weeding. Stuff that makes this a better place to be.

Blink and miss

Kingston upon Thames Report written by Kingston upon Thames runner

Over the last few weeks 8 goodgymers from different areas, and in various parks, gardens joined in with The Big butterfly count so that data could be built up on where the different butterflies and moths circulate, how each species is doing and how best to keep and accumulate them.

“This is the way we brush our teeth”

Leicester Report written by Sarah

5 Fantastic Goodgymmers made their way to litter pick a stretch between the popular coffee house Jenno’s and Sainsbury’s as the area seems to be a litter trap. It was heaving even on a Friday morning so we made sure the leaflet stand was well stocked with GoodGym leaflets.

On route we found so many cans that we bagged those up separately and Nick is going to take them along to the Air ambulance charity where they get cash for cans.

Dawn found a tooth brush and I found a flattened pound coin that I donated to Stu, think he would have rather of had one he could spend.

3 full bags plus a sack of cans we were finished and ready for coffee, where we met Cliff and Lindsay’s cute little dog Alfie. Running Legend Stu was telling us about trip to Wales this weekend to run the 10km in Snowdonia, good luck!

Weldone team another morning well spent doing something good together.

Be-leaf in yourself

Leicester Report written by Sarah

3 GoodGymmers took care of the Women’s Aid garden in Abbey Park, giving their garden a seasonal weed and tidy, we've visited through all the seasons now.

We enjoyed a leisurely walk to the garden then back again with a tour of Pets Corner afterwards to see what animals we could find, alot less bunnies than there used to be.

Good luck to Nick running Round Sheffield tomorrow, a beautiful half marathon trail run, enjoy.
