Merton Report written by Caroline Helder
This was the church's monthly volunteering session and as ever Abby had lots of jobs for us to do, including weeding, watering, planting out an area under the laurel tree and turning the compost. The latter was tough work but Williams did a great job, while Clare shared her gardening expertise with the rest of us. We were joined by Penny, the very cute schnoodle, and refreshed with squash and banana bread. It's been lovely to see this garden blooming over the past few months.

The team was on a mission to move a mountain of soil from the pavement to the beds on the platform! We didn't quite crack the logistics of timing the bucket filling with carrying and delivering along the platform, but we certainly got a great workout from all the shoveling, lifting, and climbing up the steps. We also enjoyed the added bonus jobs of sweeping up spillages both on and off the platform (oops!) and some watering up on the embankment. It was a productive evening and a great opportunity for a social afterwards in the nearby Raynes Park Tavern to meet everyone properly.

Djuna Watchman-Naher earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.
Djuna completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Djuna was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.
Wednesday 6th August
Djuna Watchman-Naher has done their first good deed with GoodGym.
Djuna is a now a fully fledged GoodGym runner. They've just run to do good for the first time. They are out there making amazing things happen and getting fit at the same time.

Merton's Community Fridge post-distribution clean-up session was just what was needed to end the day. The volunteers had fun learning about the recent changes and of course there was plenty of cleaning to be done and a huge amount of potatoes to shift.
A big welcome to Djuna, who joined for the first of hopefully many more sessions.
We are back on Wednesday 20th so sign up and get involved of your can.
