Helping friends in the sun

Merton Report written by Georgina Robertson-Signor

Denise and I had a lovely time joining Friends of the Earth to weed and tidy up the beds by Morden Park. The sun shone and Spring didn’t feel too far away!

Welcome and well done to Denise on your first GoodGym mission, hopefully see you again soon

The power of three

Merton Report written by Jon Green

Three GoodGymers returned to Martin Way Methodist Church on Monday to finish off a deep clean of the church's kitchen which fellow GoodGymers started last week.

The kitchen is used by the Open Table, a pay as you feel community cafe open to diners every Wednesday, and will be extra busy with the opening of a Winter Night Shelter every Tuesday night from now until March.

Stock-ing up with food donations

Merton Report written by Jade

Several have signed up to donate to a foodbank as the task that can be done at any time and anywhere over the weekend, so this report may get added to.

Rachael was the first to knock this off the to do list with a donation at Waitrose in Raynes Park. Then Emily dropped off some tins at Aldi, whilst Jade stopped by at Merton Park Baptist church collection point for Wimbledon Foodbank. Others added donations at various other locations.

Going back to our roots

Merton Report written by Caroline Helder

A year on from our first session in this garden, it was lovely to see how well it's coming along, with the first daffodils shyly emerging and the impressive new bay tree resplendent in its pot. For this session we were planting fruit trees, moving blackcurrant and raspberry bushes, cutting back lemon balm and doing some weeding, all under the knowledgeable supervision of Inger. The sun came out and it didn't really feel like January. We'll be back next month!
