Leaflets swiftly dispatched

Windsor and Maidenhead Report written by Slough runner

I rounded up the troops, called in the cavalry (Jess ๐Ÿ˜€) and plotted the route with military position so we were all set to parade through the streets posting leaflets for Homestart on the Army Estate.

The crack team of 4 took a regimented approach and blitzed the task in no time with Helen and Jen pairing up and Adam and Jess joining forces. We even avoided a 'Major' Incident with a few dogs and kept ourselves on the 'General' straight and narrow.

A prickly situation!

Windsor and Maidenhead Report written by Mandy Driver

Thursday 6:15/ 6:30pm is GoodGym Windsor Night! ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

Tonight we were just off the Maidenhead Road in Windsor on a committed mission. The long pathway had got so overgrown that the access to the houses that were occupied by the elderly residents was proving difficult.

Getting there:- Jen and Didem walked from The Binoy. Bekah, Helen and Mandy ran from home. Sue and Adam met us there.

Sue and Adam made an amazing head start ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿปalongside Helen by the time the other walkers/runners had arrived and Sue had luckily taken some before photos in the light ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ“ธ . They had chopped then filled a huge bag full of cuttings. The rest of us needed to catch up so we got our gloves on and chose a tool from Sueโ€™s mobile shed ๐Ÿคฃ we had quite a long stretch to cover so we took an area and cut back what we could. Lots of spikey brambles, stinging nettles etc but we battled well.

We had a chat about our days/weeks while we worked and Bekah multi tasked as she was also the photographer ๐Ÿ“ธ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

The sunset a dry evening was lovely but darkness was soon upon us and despite our torches we couldnโ€™t continue as it was so dark along the passage and we were running out of bags.

We dragged the bags to the main road for the council to collect.

Fortunately (or unfortunately however you prefer to look at it ๐Ÿคฃ) there was time to do a quick workout. Jen had a challenge to do squats today so the traffic passing by got a good view ๐Ÿคฃ

Not forgetting the Windsor curtsy and bow before we partly walked together before going our separate ways home.

Thank you for coming. ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿป๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

The GG Team Tidying Olympic Games !

Windsor and Maidenhead Report written by Mandy Driver

Thursday 6:15/ 6:30pm is GoodGym Windsor Night! ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

Tonights community mission was for Age Concern at The Spencer Denney Centre.

We all made our way in various ways. Running, walking or by car. There we had a team chat while waiting for everyone to arrive.

Tonightโ€™s dream team was Marilyn, Jen, Helen, Adam Didem, Bekah and Mandy.

Rachel the task owner gave us instructions about our tidying up task. Lots to move and sort today making the conference desk clear for interviews and to hire out and create more storage in centre.

Helen jumped the gun ๐Ÿคฃ at the start before the before photo. She lost some pints there ๐Ÿคฃ

Then the emptying the cupboard doubles team with Helen and Adam opened the games.

Jen and Bekah wrestled with the full cupboard and then did a bit of fencing with the bowling pins. Mandy convinced Jen to be a good sport and try a bit of juggling wearing a cone on her head which actually should be included in the games ๐Ÿคฃ

The conference room to garage relay race by Didem, Marilyn and Adam and Helen was timed to perfection.

Mandy did her best to coach and monitor progress of the teamโ€™s performance.

The table was cleared and the shelves moved and refilled ... so we had a victory! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Medals all round ! ๐Ÿฅ‡๐Ÿฅˆ๐Ÿฅ‰

Thank you ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

Windsor Super Troopers!

Windsor and Maidenhead Report written by Mandy Driver

Thursday 6:15pm is GoodGym Windsor Night! ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

Tonight we were back helping Age Concern at The Spencer Denney Centre painting the walls in the lobby and doing a bit in the garden.

Who stole summer? Gimmie, Gimmie, Gimmie ๐ŸŽถ us some sunshine please! Itโ€™s was a grim day and rain was due so we opted in our group chat vote for painting indoors.

We all met at the centre tonight (some walked or by car)and while waiting for everyone to join we played with the baseball in a circle not sure what the name of the game ๐ŸŽถ was. Still it kept us entertained.

Task owner Rachel had the brushes and paint at the ready and showed us what needed doing.

Special welcome to Nic for her first Windsor ๐Ÿ‘‘Thursday evening session ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป and Didem has now completed 10 good deeds with today being her 11th so well done Didem. ๐Ÿคฉ

The crew tonight were Helen, Marilyn, Natalia, Jen, Sue, Nic, Caroline , Didem and Mandy.

We cleared the lobby area, got set up with dust cloths, chose our preferred brushes and a section of wall.

ABBA was Didemโ€™s choice of tunes tonight although we did seem to get take a chance on me ๐ŸŽถ on repeat ๐Ÿคฃ but thank you for the music ๐ŸŽถ anyway!

Sue and Marilyn decided to be brave and did some garden tidying instead of painting and cleaned the garden furniture in case the sun does ever decide to show itself ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป and the guests can sit outside.

The others literally finished up all the paint suppliesโ€ฆ Mumma Mia ๐ŸŽถ ! So then one buy one after tidying up and washing brushes in the Waterloo ๐ŸŽถ we all ended up in the garden anyway โ€ฆ so much for the vote ๐Ÿคฃ still it wasnโ€™t too bad. Most of the rain was coming off the leaves of the tree in the wind.

Not letting anyone go early Mandy put on a quick 10 min Joe Wicks fitness video and we had a go at what we could without a mat.

Then it was time to do our group photoโ€ฆ sorry I missed Helen in this ๐Ÿฅฒ then did our Windsor curtsy and say our goodbyes.

Thank you all so much for coming lovely to see you all and some new faces these last couple of weeks ๐Ÿ˜

Strip Tease!

Windsor and Maidenhead Report written by Mandy Driver

Thursday 6:15pm is GoodGym Windsor Night! ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

Tonight we were back helping Windsor and Eton FC CIC with removing the loose paint from the wall panels.

Special night for Helen with her 10th good deed tonight ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Jen, Helen and Mandy met at The Binoy. Jen went ahead walking while Mandy and Helen chatted about drink leakage issues ๐Ÿคฃ then we ran a longer route to the task.

Didem met us there as did the task owner Willie and we set to work at about 6:45pm.

Now the clue is in the title as we were under the expectation that we would be met with easy peeling paint like the first task we did a few weeks ago on this panelled wall. But we were wrong โ€ฆ SO wrong ๐Ÿ˜ฌ The wall opposite was a tough wall to peel. That pesky paint was just not wanting to part from its panel so full body weight was required and some serious sanding. Puzzled by the difference we thought about all the reasons why this should be. Same paint, same surface different sides ๐Ÿค”We had a quick scrape of another wall and that was coming off like a dream. So we had a good wall ๐Ÿ˜ƒand a bad wall โ˜น๏ธ still the dance music kept the energy up.

A hoover round to get rid of the scrapings of paint and dust to finish off.

We think we can all pretty much prep like a pro now.

After the task we said our goodbyes, took a Windsor curtsy ๐Ÿ‘‘ and made our way home.

Thank you for coming I hope your arms are not aching ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป xx
