It was a return to the Penrose Roots to Recovery garden this evening for part two of a big sleeper cutting task.
There's lots of new raised beds planned for this year's crops but before they can be built we needed to cut a bunch to size.
We completed the sawing job and moved some sleepers down to the far end of the garden in super quick time so we ran on to the Wardown Park Bandstand for a leg-based workout circuit.

Brown Books had been flooded out by faulty plumbing from the flat above and there was so much damage they needed to pack up the salvageable stock ready for a move to new premises next week. So of course GoodGym offered our services to help with the packing. We had no idea how many books there would be, and as we soon ran out of boxes, while Musa carried on packing with help from our ally Hussain, Gill and Omar took turns to go in search of more cardboard boxes: we begged them from other shops and even went diving into recycling bins to retrieve flattened boxes which were then reconstructed back at the shop. Laura joined us and was soon busy packing up great works of literature including a lot of play scripts.
2 and a half hours later, with a mountain of 📚 book boxes 📦 piled up in the centre of the shop, we’d had an intensive upper body workout. With no more boxes available the lights were switched off and Gill locked up

The second week of January and GoodGymers were collecting up empty sweet tubs form around the town to deliver to the Greene King Pubs for their Tub2Pub campaign.
On Tuesday, Gill took empty Heroes and Celebrations tubs to the Ewe and Lambs on her way to a trial visit for a social mission after collecting them from a colleague at work. At the same time Ella had retrieved a tub from her in-laws and popped it in to the bar at The Jolly Topers. On Wednesday Martin visited his Dad, who had managed to polish of a tub of Heroes over the Christmas period (ably assisted, we are sure, by his family), so he kindly offered to take Dad’s tub to the Biscot Mill and deposit it in the collection cage there.
Saturday was a popular day for ourTub2Pub Heroes, and Laura made it up to the Biscot Mill with her Heroes tub, with Duncan following hot on her heals with Roses.
Sunday was the final day for the week 2 challenge, and the Biscot Mill must think that GoodGym eat an awful lot of chocolates. Gill had collected a stack of tubs from a friend who works in a school, and she was helped my Musa to get them all in the cage while Pam followed close behind with the final tub of the week 2 task.
Brilliant team work… saving plastics form landfill, contributing to the Greene King donation to Macmillan, and getting some steps in along the way. Well done all.
